About Hand Sheet Former (Semi-Automatic Type)
DESCRIPTION:
Hand Sheet Formeris a Hand Sheet Former with White Water Re-Circulation System, Pneumatic Sheet Press and Rapid Dryer mounted on base table complete with accessories.
It is a stainless steel device produces laboratory hand sheets to allow the test and evaluation of the physical properties of pulp. The sheets are identical to those formed by the standard sheet former. The elimination of operator influence helps assure consistency, increases output, improves the reproducibility, reduces time factor and reduces operator fatigue without detriment to the final product.
APPLICATIONS:
Pulp, Paper, Recycled Paper
SALIENT FEATURES:
Durable, all stainless steel construction.
User-friendly control panel.
Standard Sheet Former with integral Pneumatic Couching.
Suitable for sheet formation of 165 mm dia.
Variable times and pressures.
Provided with laboratory blotter, sheet drying ring and sheet drying plate.
TECHNICALSPECIFICATION:
- Apparatus has Control Cabinet for regulation of filling, air agitation, setling and drainage.
- Couching pressure may also be adjusted by pressure regulator & timer.
- Complete with switch control box accessories to provide 600 KPA air supply to the sheet former and drainage system connection and water inlet supply automatically.
- Drainage commencing automatically at the end of setling cycles and signals when complete.
- Timer provides timing sequence of each steps may be adjustable in seconds, minutes and hour.
- On completion of pneumatic couching, controls reset for next cycle.
- It is suitable for operation on 220-250 V 50 Hz AC.

Designed for Laboratory Precision
This semi-automatic Hand Sheet Former is purpose-built for laboratory environments, supporting paper testing and pulp research in compliance with TAPPI/ISO standards. The corrosion-resistant stainless steel construction ensures durability, while precise fittings and a detachable deckle frame guarantee reproducible results. Integrated water overflow protection and a quick-release drain valve further enhance safety and operational efficiency.
Efficient Semi-Automatic Operation
Operators can form a standard 203 mm (8 inch) sheet within 1-2 minutes using manual or semi-automatic water circulation. The intuitive control interface, instant response time, and quick sheet removal streamline the testing process, making the equipment suitable for frequent laboratory use. Ambient or controlled temperature and humidity options are available to meet varied testing requirements.
FAQs of Hand Sheet Former (Semi-Automatic Type):
Q: How does the Hand Sheet Former (Semi-Automatic Type) operate during sheet formation?
A: This equipment utilizes a combination of manual and semi-automatic controls. Water is circulated either manually or semi-automatically inside the corrosion-resistant stainless steel cylinder, and the deckle frame ensures precise sheet dimensions. Sheet formation typically completes within 12 minutes, after which specimens are easily removed.Q: What benefits does the corrosion-resistant stainless steel construction provide?
A: The corrosion-resistant stainless steel ensures a long-lasting, low-maintenance operation even with frequent exposure to water and chemicals used in laboratory paper testing. It also supports accurate, reproducible results by maintaining a stable and contamination-free environment.Q: Where is this Hand Sheet Former best utilized?
A: This device is designed for laboratory settings, specifically in paper laboratories, research institutions, and quality control labs in the pulp and paper industry. Its benchtop design makes it suitable for compact workspace environments.Q: What safety features are included with this equipment?
A: The Hand Sheet Former incorporates integrated water overflow protection to prevent spills and accidents, as well as an anti-spill drain valve for rapid water release, ensuring user safety during operation.Q: When should the Hand Sheet Former be used in the paper testing process?
A: This equipment is ideal for use during the preparation of hand sheets for physical property testing, such as thickness and grammage. It should be used prior to testing procedures that require standardized laboratory sheets for accurate comparisons.Q: How does the device ensure compliance with laboratory standards?
A: The equipment is manufactured in accordance with international TAPPI and ISO laboratory standards, offering high resolution (up to 0.01 mm for thickness) and reproducibility in results, which is essential for reliable laboratory data.
